Silver Skyline Cologne is a plant characterized by a cushion-like habit reaching from 20 to 50 cm in height. The shoots are stiff, upright and richly branched with unique silver-green foliage. Although the variety does not flower, its attractive shape and colour decorate the garden throughout the whole year.
Growing
Silver heather is an easy-to-grow shrub - even a beginner gardener will not have any problem with it! It grows best in sunny positions, requires light, permeable, humus-rich and acidic soil (pH between 3.5 and 5). It is worth using ready-made soil for heather plants. The plant needs moderate and regular watering, drying out and excess water should be avoided. It is best to water the soil directly under the plant, avoiding wetting the leaves - this will help avoid fungal diseases.
Care of heather seedlings
- Pruning: this treatment should be carried out at the turn of March and April. We cut about 1/3 of the length of the shoots, which will allow the plant to become denser and maintain its compact habit.
- Fertilizing: heather seedlings do not require fertilizing, however it will help the plants develop faster. It is worth using fertilizer intended for heather plants once a season and taking care of proper acidification of the soil.
- Watering: heather needs constant, moderate soil moisture.
